Beginning July 1, DCH suspended providers that had not completed federally required revalidation. Suspended providers cannot participate in Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids, and claims for services dated July 1 or later are not paid.

An administrative enrollment failure can become a care-access problem where affected practices are among the few Medicaid providers in a county or specialty.

Georgia Medicaid says a significant number of EDWP prior authorizations were entered incorrectly

Georgia seeks to end a $1,500 Medicaid newborn-delivery add-on for some rural hospitals

DCH is seeking CMS approval to discontinue the $1,500 add-on paid for each newborn delivery at hospitals in rural counties with populations from 35,001 through 50,000, while maintaining the add-on for counties with populations of 35,000 or fewer. The proposed State Plan Amendment projects a $6,477,975 SFY 2027 reduction and has not been identified as federally approved.

The population cutoff can materially change maternity-service revenue for rural hospitals. Georgians need a hospital-by-hospital account of Medicaid births, estimated lost funding, obstetric staffing, service-line stability, and travel distance to the next labor-and-delivery facility.

Georgia changed school-zone speed-camera rules, with voter approval beginning in 2027

Signed HB 651 limits automated citations to school days during instructional classes and one hour before and after, and to speeds more than 10 mph over the applicable limit. It retains $75 first and $125 subsequent penalties, caps electronic processing at $10, prohibits late fees, strengthens contest notices, and restricts revenue to public-safety uses. Beginning July 1, 2027, qualifying new or renewed camera contracts require local referendum approval for six years.

Georgia now has a two-stage transition: major operating and consumer protections are already in effect, while new warning-sign and referendum provisions begin in 2027. Every participating jurisdiction should publish its vendor, contract expiration, fees, citation hours, revenue, appeals process, permitted uses of funds, and whether its next contract action will require a vote.
