Georgia is funding a five-school drone pilot for active-shooter response
Georgia funded a $550,000 Campus Guardian Angel pilot at Coffee County High School, Gainesville High School, Statesboro High School, Troup County High School, and River Ridge High School. The vendor says remotely operated drones can use sirens, pepper gel, and other distraction devices, with deployment planned for the 2026–27 school year; the system has not yet been tested in an actual school shooting.

Why it matters
The pilot moves school security beyond cameras and alerts into remotely operated physical intervention. Families need clear rules for activation, threat identification, use of force, law-enforcement coordination, video and telemetry retention, cybersecurity, liability, incident review, and the evidence required before statewide expansion.
